History
The islands rich and extensive history draws visitors year after year to explore its unique charm. From area folk lore, stately plantations, monumental battle sites and historic churches, culture and history abounds on St. Simons Island.
- Fort Frederica – Frederica is a story of dreams, struggle, victory and defeat. Established in 1736, the fort guarded Georgia’s southern frontier. More than a fort, the town of Frederica was home to colonists seeking to start a new life. Museum tours and demonstrations are among the attractions.
- Christ Church - This lovely, historic church was built in 1886 and is the spot where John Wesley, the father of Methodism, first preached in colonial America.
- St. Simons Island Lighthouse – Whether you climb the 129 circular steps to the top of the lighthouse, or explore the original keeper’s dwelling (now a museum) at its base, you’ll discover new and absorbing perspectives on St. Simons Island and its rich history.
- The Coastal Maritime Center- Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this Roosevelt-era Coast Guard Station now offers a very personal encounter with the coast’s nature and its fascinating history.
- Historic Trolley Tours-You will truly enjoy the entertaining and informative narrative of 400 years of island history and folklore as you ride along in the Original Vintage Green Trolley. We also point out the best places to eat, shop, and play. It's the perfect way to see and experience island life while getting a fun introduction to the entire island.

Nature Tours
A variety of tour types are available. Choose a narrated Trolley Tour, the excitement of a kayak tour of area waters, birding tours, and guided dolphin or sunset boating tours.
- Salt Marsh Nature Tours- Travel scenic tidal creeks between St. Simons Island and Little St. Simons Island while discovering unique features of our marsh eco-system. Great for bird-watching enthusiasts!
- Kayak Tours- Join the experienced local guides at Southeastern Advertures as you discover the magic of sea kayaking. They teach the skills needed to safely enjoy the sport as you watch the abundant wildlife in the marshes and on the beaches of St. Simons and Sea Island. Anyone can enjoy the stable, expedition quality sea-kayaks used on their trips.

Dragonfly Copters- Let Dragonfly Copters change the angle of your view!
Climb on board for the helicopter ride of your life! See the coastal beaches of the Golden Isles. Visit Jacksonville, St. Simon's, Savannah, Charleston, or get a close up view of the Okefenokee Swamp. Hop in a dragonfly copter to view the beautiful Marshes of Glynn or visit secret hideaways by air.
- Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge- The Great Okefenokee Swamp, one of America’s most fascinating natural areas, is the largest Swamp in North America. "Okefenokee" what Seminoles called "Land of Trembling Earth" is approximately 700 square miles and is located just a short ride from the Resort.
- Bike Trails - A paved network of winding bike paths (ideal for walking and jogging, too) is a great way to get to most anywhere on St. Simons Island. Bike rentals are available at the Resort and elsewhere on the island. Visit the sites below for more information and reservations.

Community Events
Jazz in the Park:
Each summer beginning Memorial Day weekend and lasting into September, GIAHA brings you six great concerts by the best local and regional jazz musicians. Planned for high tide Sundays (for maximum breeze and comfort!), the concerts draw hundreds of people to the lawn of St. Simons Island Lighthouse for one of the most pleasant and entertaining evenings you can spend in the Golden Isles.
All concerts are from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and free for kids under 6. Bring a chair or blanket, a picnic summer, your favorite beverage, and of course, all your friends for the high-tide event that’s become a Golden Isles tradition.

A Little Light Music:

The Island Players-Young People's Summer Workshop:
The Island PlayersYoung People's Summer Workshop presents "Abner Twitch from Chitlin's Switch" July 15th through 19th and 22nd through 26th, with matinee and evening performances July 18th and 25th.
Matinee performances are at 4 p.m. and evening performances are 8 p.m. Performances are in the St. Simons Island Casino theater. adult admission is $8; children and youths 8-18 years of age, $6.
Golden Isles Speedway:
Located in Waynesville, this 5/8 mile, high banked, D- Shaped, dirt track features Late Model, Cadets, Rookies and Super Street racing events.

Golf at the Resort’s award-winning Hampton Club

The celebrated character of this award-winning course is the extraordinary beauty that unfolds in harmony with the challenges of one of coastal Georgia's great courses. The Hampton Club is located on the quiet northern end of St. Simons Island, approximately 13 miles from The King and Prince.
The Hampton Club will be closed April 1 through October 1, 2009 for renovation.
Golf may be arranged through the Hampton Club at various local Golf Clubs.
Mr. Pride Evans offers private and group lessons on the resorts har-tru tennis courts. Pride is a seasoned tennis profesional with over 25 years of teaching and instructional experience. Lessons are available for private guests, semi-private guests, groups, team coaching and getaways, and corporate outings.

The Resort may arrange lessons for guests at a local private shooting school. The School specializes in skeet, trap, and five-stand sporting clays. A ten-station sporting clays course is available.
The Resort may arrange trail rides for guests at a local private equestrian center. The center offers beach rides, natuaral history rides,and wooded trail rides.
Travel local waters for an up-close look at beautiful dolphin, other marine wildlife and picturesque sunsets. Tours leave from the Golden Isles Marina.

Traveling through the scenic Marshes of Glynn south of St Simons Sound you will see abundant wildlife, including dolphin, seagulls, and pelicans. Where can you shop on St. Simons Island? Just about anywhere! St. Simons offers a variety of shops featuring clothing, antiques, art, jewelry, shoes, container gardening, kitchen accessories and more.
The Village – Located along Mallory Street, the Pier Village area is one of the cultural and commercial centers of the island. This central gathering place at the Island's southern end (one mile from the Resort), features shopping, dining and recreational activities, attractions include the historic lighthouse (you can climb to the top!), coastal history museum, fishing pier, waterfront playground, miniature golf, picnic area and views of St. Simons Sound. You'll also find a library and a Visitor Center in the Village.
Redfern Village –Delightful shops, boutiques and dining choices are available in this picturesque area. Redfern village features Art Galleries, Jewelry Shops, Home Furnishings, Clothing boutiques, fabulous local cuisine and much more.
Shops at Sea Islands – A beautiful enclave located at the corner of Frederica and Sea Island Roads, features upscale shopping and dining, a movie theatre, grocery store and more.
