Year-Round Events and Activities

Weekend Entertainment at ECHO - Live local entertainment every Friday and Saturday night at ECHO, located inside The King and Prince Resort. Call our concierge at 912-638-3631, ext. 5109 for more information.

First Fridays - The first Friday of every month stroll the streets of downtown Brunswick. Listen to live music inside and outside, and sample food and drinks. Hours are from 5-8PM.

Second Sundays - 1pm to 7pm. This popular family-friendly music event takes place on the second Sunday of each month at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. Each month, the proceeds from Second Sunday benefit a variety of select local charitable organizations. Hundreds of music fans, families, friends - locals and visitors alike - who converge on the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, enjoy listening to the live music. Raffle tickets are sold for door prizes contributed by area businesses. Kids can play in the inflatable bounce house and slides. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled community event!

Art Classes with Glynn Art Association - Established in 1953, Glynn Art Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving as the community’s VISUAL ARTS CENTER.  It is supported by donations from members, visual artists and patrons. The Glynn Art Association’s mission is to promote and encourage creative expression within our community with an emphasis on the visual arts. The Glynn Art Gallery is located in the “heart” of St. Simons Island at 529 Beachview Drive in the quaint Pier Village on the south end of the Island.  Visit www.GlynnArt.org for information on art classes in various media - pottery, drawing, painting, photography, and more. Both children's and adult classes are available year round.

Golden Isles Speedway - Waynesville, GA (about a 40-minute drive from the Resort) - a 4/10 mile, high-banked, D-shaped dirt track hosts a regular program featuring Limited Late Model, Super Street, Hobby Stock, E-Mod Modified, and Box Stock divisions, along with Spectator and Powder Puff races. Other special events, including the annual 'Super Bowl of Racing,' also highlight the busy schedule. Click here for more information.

“Shaggin’ at Ziggy’s!”-  Golden Isles Shag Club meets on Thursday nights at Ziggy Mahoney's with Beach Music DJ Wayne Bennett. No cover charge. Free Shag lessons with GISC members starting at 7pm with DJ Wayne spinning the best in Beach, Boogie and Blues till 10pm. Doors open at 6pm for food and beverages. 

The Island Players - The Island Players is a community theater company, performing in the Casino Building at the Pier Village.  They offer four main stage productions each year and a youth workshop in the summer. Call 912-638-0338 for more information or click here.

Brunswick Actors' Theatre - The Brunswick Actors' Theatre (BAT) is a 113 seat theatre that is home to six Art Downtown productions a year. Brunswick Actors' Theatre presents "Always a Bridesmaid" - Jones, Hope, and Wooten comedy about four friends who have sworn to keep the promise they made on the night of their Senior Prom: to be in each other's weddings…no matter what.
Dates: August 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and September 1,7, 8, 2014
Times: Saturday nights at 8:00pm and on Sunday afternoons at 3:00pm. The doors open 45 minutes prior to curtain and reserved seating is available.

Jazz in the Park featuring Sam Rodriguez Latin Jazz - Presented by Golden Isles Arts and Humanities for more than two decades, Jazz in the Park is one of the most popular events in the Golden Isles for residents and visitors alike. As always, guests are encouraged to bring a picnic supper and a lawn chair or blanket.
Sam Rodriguez, with his distinctive musical personality, has established himself as a top percussionist. Sam has gained even wider recognition by performing or recording with a broad scope of artists such as Anita Baker, Jennifer Holiday, Barry White, and Gladys Knight.

Great Georgia Yard Sale - We can't say that this is a community-wide yard sale. It's much bigger than that! Families in the Golden Isles and the surrounding areas are coming together for a one-day yard sale that will be like NOTHING you've ever seen. The Great Georgia Yard Sale is a yard sale craft show festival! From trinkets to treasures, we will have anything and everything including appliances, electronics, furniture, new and used household stuff, baby items, clothes and more. Over 120 vendors, food, entertainment, slides and rides.

Jekyll Island Shrimp & Grits Festival - A weekend celebration of two of Georgia's most beloved foods - shrimp and grits. The festival features a cook-off, shrimp boat tours, cooking demonstrations, book signings, arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment and a kid‐friendly fun zone. This festival is a must-see for any food lover.

Michael’s repertoire includes classic and modern Jazz, the best in Fusion and Jazz-Funk, and highlight’s of R&B, Soul, Rock and Pop.

Saint Simons Food & Spirits Festival- Celebrating the Bounty of Georgia’s Golden Isles while raising dollars and awareness for Hospice of the Golden Isles, the only community-based, non-profit hospice serving the area.  Area restaurants, regional farmers and artisans will be the highlight of Saturday’s Tasting Tents, Farm Stand and Market.

CoastFest 2014: 20th Anniversary- With more than 70 environmental, educational, research, and resource exhibitors from throughout the southeast providing interactive exhibits and displays, the 20th annual CoastFest highlights Georgia’s unique coastal environment in a family-friendly day of fun and education.  Visitors of all ages can participate in activities from recycling to coastal weather … native plants to sea turtles ... water conservation to archeology… herpetology to geology … sharks to shrimp!

“Under the Oaks” Half Marathon Challenge- Saint Simons Christian School partners with the Jekyll Island Authority to sponsor the Under the Oaks Run- a 13.1 Half Marathon, 10K and 5K to be held on Columbus Day weekend, Saturday October 11, 2014 on the beautiful and scenic Jekyll Island.  The courses are USATF certified and all three races are USATF sanctioned so that both casual and competitive runners may enjoy each event.

5th Annual St. Simons Island SUP Challenge- The 5th Annual St. Simons Island Stand Up Paddleboard Challenge is hosted by Davis Love III, Paddle & Putt - SUP & Surf. Event includes a 3-mile short course, 8-mile elite race, 4 person team relay race, and 13 and under, and dog on board race. 100% net proceeds donated to the Davis Love Foundation and there is a $12,000 guaranteed purse.

15th Annual Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee- Get ready for the 15th annual Brunswick Rockin' Stewbilee at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. Each year, cooking teams from near and far compete to see who has the best stew, competing for the Peoples' Choice and Judges' Award. The day long event begins with the 5k Road Race followed by the Pet Supplies Plus Pooch Parade, Live Entertainment, The Kid's Junior Stewbee Central Fun Zone, Classic and Antique Car Show, Arts & Crafts displays and of course, sampling of the Best Brunswick Stew in the nation.
