Year-Round Events and Activities

Weekend Entertainment at ECHO - Live local entertainment every Friday and Saturday night at ECHO, located inside The King and Prince Resort. Call our concierge at 912-638-3631, ext. 5109 for more information.

First Fridays - The first Friday of every month stroll the streets of downtown Brunswick. Listen to live music inside and outside, and sample food and drinks. Hours are from 5-8PM.

Second Sundays - 1pm to 7pm. This popular family-friendly music event takes place on the second Sunday of each month at Gascoigne Bluff on St. Simons Island. Each month, the proceeds from Second Sunday benefit a variety of select local charitable organizations. Hundreds of music fans, families, friends - locals and visitors alike - who converge on the park armed with lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, enjoy listening to the live music. Raffle tickets are sold for door prizes contributed by area businesses. Kids can play in the inflatable bounce house and slides. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled community event!

Art Classes with Glynn Art Association - Established in 1953, Glynn Art Association is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving as the community’s VISUAL ARTS CENTER.  It is supported by donations from members, visual artists and patrons. The Glynn Art Association’s mission is to promote and encourage creative expression within our community with an emphasis on the visual arts. The Glynn Art Gallery is located in the “heart” of St. Simons Island at 529 Beachview Drive in the quaint Pier Village on the south end of the Island.  Visit for information on art classes in various media - pottery, drawing, painting, photography, and more. Both children's and adult classes are available year round.

Golden Isles Speedway - Waynesville, GA (about a 40-minute drive from the Resort) - a 4/10 mile, high-banked, D-shaped dirt track hosts a regular program featuring Limited Late Model, Super Street, Hobby Stock, E-Mod Modified, and Box Stock divisions, along with Spectator and Powder Puff races. Other special events, including the annual 'Super Bowl of Racing,' also highlight the busy schedule. Click here for more information.

“Shaggin’ at Ziggy’s!”-  Golden Isles Shag Club meets on Thursday nights at Ziggy Mahoney's with Beach Music DJ Wayne Bennett. No cover charge. Free Shag lessons with GISC members starting at 7pm with DJ Wayne spinning the best in Beach, Boogie and Blues till 10pm. Doors open at 6pm for food and beverages. 

The Island Players - The Island Players is a community theater company, performing in the Casino Building at the Pier Village.  They offer four main stage productions each year and a youth workshop in the summer. Call 912-638-0338 for more information or click here.

Brunswick Actors' Theatre - The Brunswick Actors' Theatre (BAT) is a 113 seat theatre that is home to six Art Downtown productions a year. Island Treasures - Beginning New Year's Day and continuing through the months of January and February the Jekyll Island Authority hosts "Island Treasures on Jekyll Island,” a unique treasure hunting experience on Jekyll Island. The treasures are handcrafted glass floats called Island Treasures.
Dates: January 1st to February 28th, 2015
Cost: Vehicle entry to Jekyll Island requires a valid parking pass which must be purchased at the Pay-In-The-Lane System or the Guest Information Center upon arrival on the island. One Day Parking Pass: $6* (tax included)

Presidential Pathways photography exhibit - A striking collection of candid presidential photographs by the late New York Times photographer, George Tames. An expert at capturing the strength of character and the political stress, his iconic images include Kennedy leaning on the windowsill of the Oval Office, Nixon waving goodbye after his impeachment and more.

History Tours at Cannon's Point Preserve - The Coastal Georgia Historical Society has partnered with the St. Simons Land Trust to offer history tours of Cannon's Point Preserve January 16 and 30, and February 13 and 27. These personalized tours will provide an overview of the history of Cannon's Point with emphasis on the 19th century. Archaeology consultant Myrna Crook, who serves on the Cannon's Point History Task Force, will be leading tour groups limited to 16. Participants will receive an in-depth interpretation of this historic site, including the John Couper family and life at Cannon's Point during the plantation period.

An Overview of Coastal Georgia History - Buddy Sullivan will present his six-week history course, An Overview of Coastal Georgia History.

The Island Players Present "Hotbed Hotel"- In the play by Michael Parker, Terri and Brian Cody are hoping to sell their "One Star Hotel" in the Florida Keys, to the only man who has expressed any interest in buying it, a Mr. Sam Lewis from New York.
Dates / Times: January 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 8:00 p.m.
Matinees: January 11, 18 and 25 at 3:00 p.m.

Peach State Opera Presents The Elixir of Love - Composer Gaetano Donizetti’s operatic masterpiece of a faux love potion that causes a domino effect of hilarious plot twists and surprise romantic turns. Performed by Peach State Opera, Georgia’s only touring opera company.

Cultural Expressions 2015 - Local and regional African-American artists display their individual work bound in a common theme – a reflection of pride in the many dimensions of their African-American cultural experiences.
Opening receptions, often with the artists themselves, are usually held on First Fridays, unless noted.

The Big Read: Their Eyes Were Watching God By Zora Neale Hurston - The community-wide reading initiative returns in 2015 with Zora Neale Hurstons vibrant and achingly human novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God. The 2015 program will take place February 6 to March 7, 2015 and includes discussions, performances, films, art exhibits, and school programs designed to get everyone in the community reading, discussing, and thinking about Zora Neale Hurston and her significant work. Free copies of the novel will be made available to the community as well as copies of the Little and Middle Big Read titles.

Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball - Let the good times roll and help support all the programs and events that Golden Isles Arts & Humanities brings to our community!

Coastal Symphony of Georgia Presents Love Stories -The orchestra will begin with the story of two star-crossed lovers as they perform Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Overture-Fantasy. The story of love repressed, then helplessly and haplessly expressed and only fulfilled in death follows with Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. After intermission, the orchestra will treat the audience to an elegant musical love letter, Salut d’Amour by Edward Elgar, before closing the evening with a comic story of love, Richard Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier Suite.

2015 Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run - Certified by the U.S. Track and Field Association as "the toughest 5K in Georgia," participants start on the southbound side of the Sidney Lanier Bridge, go over, and return back, crossing the bridge twice. The event is not for the timid, and should only be attempted by those who have properly trained. However, the Bridge Run also includes a fun walk after the race is over, followed by a family-friendly festival featuring community vendors, food and drink, entertainment and children's activities. Proceeds will benefit the Health System’s cancer care programs.

A Tribute to Duke Ellington and The Harlem Renaissance - As Coastal Georgia reads Their Eyes Were Watching God, we take a look at the music and the words of the Harlem Renaissance. The Phil Morrison Trio featuring Keith Williams and Ken Trimmins orchestrate a concert to celebrate Duke Ellington’s legacy with special guests sharing the writings of the time.

Fine Arts and Flowers - Glynn Visual Arts will participate in the nationwide "Art in Bloom" - a collaboration of timeless art and fresh flowers. Professional and non-professionals alike interpret the art they are assigned, then recreate the design with fresh flowers.  Glynn Visual Arts will introduce their interpretation, Fine Arts & Flowers, an art exhibition and accompanying floral display. This is also the inaugural exhibition in the new St. Simons Island Visitors Bureau. St. Simons will be awash in color and flowers in late April, between this exhibition and the Cassina Garden Club's Garden Walk

Ritz Radio Theatre: The Wizard of Oz - We’re off to see the Wizard…the wonderful Wizard of Oz! Ritz Radio Theatre presents the beloved story just as it would have been done in the 1940s as a live radio drama - in front of a live audience, with period costume and sound effects.
