A paved network of winding bike paths (ideal for walking and jogging, too) is a great way to get to most anywhere on St. Simons Island. Bike rentals are available at Ocean Motion Surf Shop (just around the corner from the Resort) and elsewhere on the island. Infant seats and Trail-a-bikes available as well. St. Simons Colonial Island Tours has served The Golden Isles since 2011; offering comprehensive historic tours on St. Simons along with premium private transport for the island and surrounding area. The trolley is locally owned and operated, with the owner as your guide 100% of the time. This level of quality control ensures an excellent experience for all guests. William of Orange - the appropriately-named mode of transport - is the only trolley on the island to sport air conditioning and wheelchair accessibility. Anybody can comfortably enjoy the ride. Meet the trolley right at the pier next to the blue sunbrellas, just look for the orange trolley and ask for Captain Rod. You will truly enjoy the entertaining and informative narrative of 400 years of island history and folklore as you ride along in the Original Vintage Green Trolley. The drive-by tour includes the Lighthouse, Battle of the Bloody Marsh site, Fort Frederica, and a walking tour of Christ Church. Mallery Park is located on Mallery Street just north of Pier Village on St. Simons Island. Kings Park, on the east side of Mallery Street, is an extension of Mallery Park. Combined, these parks offer a basketball court, shuffle boards, tennis courts, Butler Fields (three baseball/softball fields), a playground, concession building with restrooms, two grills and many picnic tables. These parks, shaded by mossy oaks, are also host to many antique and craft fairs conveniently located a short walk from Pier Village.
Tour the maritime forest on the south end of beautiful Jekyll Island while guiding along on an eco-friendly Segway® Personal Transporter (PT). To take part in the Jekyll Island Fun Tours on Segway® PTs, please contact the tour guide in advance to learn of availability and tour times. There's plenty to do for the entire family at Neptune Park. Cool off in the Fun Zone Pool, which is open daily throughout the summer until September 18th. For the young ones, there is a playground free of charge. The oceanfront park features picnic tables under stately oak trees, benches for relaxing by the sea, a fishing pier, and a bandstand where events are held throughout the year. Visitors to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center explore interactive exhibits on sea turtle biology, conservation, rehabilitation, and the sea turtle's amazing journey from egg to adulthood. A large viewing window into the treatment area and an elevated walkway into the rehabilitation pavilion allow visitors to watch veterinary care of injured and ill turtles and learn more about the patients.
