Four Nationally renowned storytellers keep us laughing all weekend at Epworth By The Sea. Come if you need a good laugh or time away to relax. Register in the Brown Center Lobby Saturday evening or Sunday morning before worship service.

2019 Storytellers:

  • Bil Lepp: Bil has been featured 13 times at the National Storytelling Festival, performed at the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival and Comedy Central’s Los Angeles stage. He is an award winning storyteller, writer, author of 3 books, ten audio collections, and a novel. Adept at spinning tales and exaggerating circumstances,
Bil is a champion liar filing his stories with morsels of truth shedding light on universal themes.
  • Regi Carpenter: Recipient of numerous awards, Regi’s stories have been featured on Sirius Radio, Apple Seed Radio, The Moth and NPR. Her tales celebrate the glorious and gut wrenching lives of four generations of Carpenters raised on the St. Lawrence River in upstate New York. Tales of underwater tea parties, drowning
lessons and drives to the dump give voice to the multi generations of family life in a small river town.
  • Donald Davis: A featured teller at the Smithsonian Institution, the World’s Fair, festivals and concerts throughout the country and the world; Donald is a prolific author, producer of books and tapes. He has recorded 25 storytelling albums and been a guest host for the National Public Radio’s “Good Evening” and is a former Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Storytelling Association.
  • Michael Reno Harrell: This veteran storyteller, entertainer and award winning songwriter’s recordings top the American Music Association charts year after year. His stories and songs have been described as “Appalachian grit and wit”. He has been the Teller in Residence at the International Storytelling Center and a featured Teller at the National Storytelling Festival. His performances could compare to his granddaddys’ pocket knife well warn and familiar feeling, but razor sharp and with a point.
  • Emcee – Andy Offutt Irwin: Equal parts mischievous schoolboy and the Marx Brothers, peppered with a touch of Southern balladeer, Andy is a storyteller, humorist, singer, songwriter, musician, whistler and a walking menagerie of sound effects and dialects.
